our journey
Meade Locker and Processing, LLC spurred from our love of hunting and processing wild game, servicing our community, and our personal desire to build something our entire family could be a part of. We, Chad and Tiffany Ziebart, previously owned and operated Top Rack Processing which exclusively processed wild game. During the 3 years Top Rack Processing was open, business boomed. The first year we processed 40 animals, then it grew to 62, and finally to 144 animals. It was at that time we had to make the decision to expand or close as we could no longer meet the demand out of the 30 x 50ft shop we used for processing.
God stepped in and showed us an opportunity. In March of 2020 the Covid pandemic began and our phones rang from local farmers and ranchers asking for farm butchers. State regulations would not allow it but we saw a void in our community and knew we could help.
In the summer of 2020, we purchased the old bowling alley/Bart’s Tavern, quit our jobs, and went to work making Meade Locker and Processing a reality. Be sure to check out the “Construction of our Facility” tab to see the transformation. In December of 2020, our doors unofficially opened for wild game processing where we processed just over 500 animals. Shortly after, in February of 2021, we began processing beef and hogs. Since that time, we have not slowed down. Opening our retail front in April of 2021, becoming State Inspected for Beef Resale in June and now working on becoming State Inspected for Pork Resale in the near future. To say the last 18 months was a whirlwind would be an understatement! We could not have made this transformation and expansion so quickly without the help of our family, friends, the great construction team from WK Construction, Jake’s Plumbing, the City of Meade Utility employees and the welding crew from Liberal New Iron.
What makes Meade Locker so special for us is that it is truly a family affair. Often times our oldest daughter, Taylor, can be found holding down the retail front while Chad and I, along with Chad’s mom, Linda, work in the processing area. Our two youngest kiddos, Oakley and Lawson spend their time at the locker watching cartoons, helping with price stickers, bagging for customers, and “helping” in the back. We are beyond thankful for the ability to teach our children the value of hard work while showing them what it means to make a positive impact in their community.
When we do get to step away from the business our family enjoys spending time in the deer blind, grilling in the back yard, lounging in the pool, cheering on the Green Bay Packers and Kansas Jayhawks, and running between kids’ activities and events.
We can’t wait to see you the next time you stop in!
